Maria Dintino has worked in higher education for thirty years, the first twenty-three at Keene State College in Keene, New Hampshire, as an educational counselor and instructor of first-year writing, and the past six years in the library at Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida.

Maria has always loved to write. When she was very young, she enjoyed drawing and writing comics, and in high school came to enjoy research writing. Maria was an English major in college, primarily because she couldn’t think of a better way to spend her time besides reading and writing! Upon earning her master’s degree and teaching certification, Maria taught high school English for a few years, and then first-year writing on the college level.

All was good…except Maria wasn’t doing her own writing, something she longed to do. Over the last six years, she has finally established a practice of writing and finds it entirely fulfilling.

She published her first book in January of 2022, The Light Above: A Memoir with Margaret Fuller, and is in the research and planning stages for her next two books.

Maria is also co-founder and writer for the Nasty Women Writers project, where she and her sister Theresa highlight women whose voices have been sidelined and erased from the fabric of our collective experience. Nasty Women Writers resists this shut down on powerful women's voices and claims #nasty as a stance of power, not the put-down often intended. Visit their website, nastywomenwriters.com.

Currently, Maria lives in both Keene, NH and St. Augustine, FL, what she considers the best of both worlds!
